It emulates Atari peripherals, so you can boot disk images directly from the PC without having to have a real Atari disk drive or loads of floppy disks. It runs in the background on the PC, so if you get the USB version of the APE cable, you can easily extend it out to the Atari with regular .... I really didn't think so until (after having used USB SIO2PC for quite a while) I got " 1541 Ultimate" for Commodore 64 and enjoyed the freedom of reading SD card without my PC. ...
